Code Geass

Code Geass an anime...and I was recently rewatching it. This anime is an action show. I'm not recommending you this show. I just rewatched it and I felt like blogging about it.

The story begun with a 17 year old student who is also a discarded Britannian prince, Lelouch Lamperouge receiving a power called "Geass" from C.C(His contractor, he made a contract with her). With Geass, he plans to change the world by destroying Brittania. The reason he wants to change the world is because he wants to create a kinder world for Nunnally, his blind and waist-down paralysed sister.

Soon, he even had his own army called the Order Of The Black Knights. He continue to fight Brittania as a terrorist called Zero leading the Order Of The Black Knights!
Somehow, he becomes 99th Emperor of Brittania and the 1st Emperor of the World!
In the end, he sacrifes himself...for the peace of the world. (He was like Hitler when he ruled the world!)

I couldn't but just sigh at Lelouch and wonder at our similarities.

What similarities do he have with me or with the rest of the world?

The fact that he wore so many masks and acted on the world stage, never revealing his true self...Indeed, he was a true master of deception.

Who was he at the end of the day?


Was he Lelouch Lamperouge?
The smart, lazy, kind-hearted student who loved to gamble on himself in a game of chess.



Was he Zero, the terrorist?
The miracle creator, the man who was said to be the ally of justice.



Or was he Lelouch Vi Britannia?
The cruel dictator emperor who ruled with an iron fist.

No matter what mask he wore, he had one true goal which was to create a kinder world...a world of hopes and ambition, a world where tomorrow exists.
And to think that he sacrificed himself for this world. To think that he became the center of hatred so that when he was killed, evil and hatred died with him. In the end, making the world free from evil and hatred.

He sacrificed himself for a better world, knowing that he wouldn't have a chance to live in that kinder world he created. He was too kind indeed.
I cried when he died. (Yea, I know he's just a fictional character BUT if he was real, I would really respect him!)

While he fought for the world, he lost so many things including his loved ones. Even so, he accepted the curse of being alone and tainted. He continued his battle. As he fought, he continue to lose. What has he gained since the battle begun? He gained nothing and yet he fought. And in the end, he reached his goal by sacrificing himself. Still at the end of the day, he was at the losing end.

We all wear masks whether we like it or not... We lie according to our circumstances. We lie in order to protect, love or do whatever we claim with a lie.

I completely agree with that line. We do search for happiness.

Happiness is only real when it is shared.

Code Geass really got me thinking about human masks, happiness and world peace. And as a tribute to Lelouch's sacrifice :

ALL HAIL LELOUCH!!!

And as Lelouch dies, the stage curtain falls, ending his life, his story and everything else. This is the birth of a new beginning.
