Apple Keynote 2019

Anyway, here are some thoughts that I had.

I really like the new ipadOS. Although I won't get it, I like the functionality of it.

As for Apple Watch Series 5, I don't think there was anything outstanding or new about it. But it's still a very solid product.  

And now, let's go to the Iphones.

Let's be honest. There isn't anything new about the new iphones other than the BETTER SCREEN, BETTER CAMERA and BETTER PROCESSOR.

But as a new phone, I think a better processor and screen seems to be a necessity. Or else, it wouldn't be "new", would it?

As usual, the usual, Apple is dead song is being sung.

Is Apple dead though?

I think I can say, the old Apple that we all know to love is dead. The innovation first Apple. That seem to feel dead.

But this keynote, clearly shows, that a new Apple has emerged under Tim Cook. 

I wouldn't say it's good or bad. Just different. 

And as a hardcore Apple fan and Steve Job fan, it's just a really different feel. 

The new Iphone 11 (replacing the Iphone XR) price is cheaper than Iphone XR.

This is probably the first time Iphone drops its price at launch. Everyone is shocked.

As a consumer, a drop in price is very welcomed. I'd probably be getting this Iphone. 

Apple is also listening to its consumer. Iphone XR was the most popular phone last year and so, it knew this is where the market is at. So they are focusing on that, giving us what the consumer wants.

However, Apple listening to its consumer meant that it's no longer the trendsetter. It means a loss of vision. 

One of the thing I loved about Apple was how Steve Jobs really didn't care. People been asking for bigger screens forever and Steve Jobs never caved in because to him, a phone is supposed to fit nicely in your hand. I liked that. Although sometimes, that meant arrogance.

So this is definitely a new Apple. The Apple that really cares about its number and is listening to the consumers. 

I also like how they marketed the new Iphones. Iphone 11, Iphone 11 Pro and Iphone 11 Pro Max.

As you can see, the Iphone 11 is the base while the Iphone 11 Pro is just that extra something if you want it. And that's smart.

Take a look at last year's line up, it was Iphone XR, Iphone XS and Iphone XS Max.

As you can see, the Iphone XR was marketed like it was the cheaper option. If you wanted an Iphone and you couldn't afford the Iphone XS, here is something for you. 

This made the Iphone XR look and sound inferior compared to the Iphone XS and Iphone XS Max.

This year they scrapped that and I like it.

When you look at the features, I like how the Iphone 11 isn't really lacking. It just lacks the extra camera and the OLED screen. The Iphone 11 in itself is already pretty solid. So that's good.

For me, I'll be getting the Iphone 11 because my phone is due for an update and I'm still unwilling to leave the Apple ecosystem.

The Iphone 11 is also a pretty solid phone and this is the first time there's a price drop. So really, only more reasons to get this Iphone.

However, with a heavy heart, I feel that, this may be the last Iphone I'll get. I'm someone who can keep a phone for 3-5 years. So this just means, in 3-5 years time, I feel that Apple would be quite different. It could be the kind of Apple that I no longer fancy. But we'll see about that.
