The iPhone 12

The iPhone 12 was just announced. So what did I think of it?

Although technically, 5G is a great deal right now because well, most of us aren't even on it yet. But it's something neat to have so that in the future, when that's out, you have it and will be able to use it.

As new phones go, we all expect a new chip for better processing power, better battery life and better camera.

This is just the norm now for having a new generation of phones.

For the iPhone 12, the new chip and better camera is ticked off that list. I'm not sure about the battery life though.

Honestly, Apple upped the camera again on their latest iPhones. Nightmode on all cameras. That's actually pretty neat. But if you aren't someone who's picky with cameras, these little things don't matter.

As someone with an iPhone 11, I only have nightmode on one camera. But honestly, due to the lockdown, thanks to covid19, I haven't been out much taking pictures so it's not really a feature that I'm looking for.

Now, let's get to what really makes me go, YES.

The design. They refreshed it and went back to the more square-ish design. I wasn't expecting a design refresh honestly.

I like that they went back to the more nostalgic iPhone 5 design. I'll be honest. I'm a sucker for the classic iPhone 5 design. Like it or not, iPhone 5 will always be THE BEST iPhone.

This itself is enough for me to go out and buy it. The only reason why I'm holding back is because well, my iPhone 11 is completely fine.

As much as I love the design refresh, this worries me. Apple going back on a old design does signal to me that, innovation in the iPhone is pretty much dead.

I mean, I know we all know that has been the case for a while now. But this is a very clear indicator and it's a little sad. As a fan of Apple, that upsets me a little.

But no matter, let's just celebrate the beautiful classic design because YES. I even love that it's all screen. It looks absolutely gorgeous.

The other thing that also makes me scream YESSS and that's the fact that there's iPhone 12 mini. Yes, some of us have small hands and want that small screen back.

I definitely prefer a smaller screen.

Honestly, the iPhone 11 is too big for me. But last year, that was what I could afford and I was desperate for a new phone because my iPhone 6s 16GB was driving me insane with the lack of space.

But yea, the iPhone 12 mini makes me wish I waited one more year.

So these two things are the only two things that makes me interested on the new iPhone.

Now, onto the more controversial things. No EarPods and no charger head.

This is nonsense.

I get the whole save environment thing. But honestly, when I buy a new phone, I do want an earpod and a charger head. It's a little insane that I'd have to get it separately and get charged for it.

A charger head and an earpod are not accessories. They are necessary.

The insane thing is, when you buy the charger head and the earpod, they'll probably be packed in another box. Not so environmentally friendly now, is it?

Honestly, the more environmentally friendly thing would be to not launch a new product or to buy a new product. But we don't want to talk about that now, do we?

As much as I love Apple, I find this move completely silly. It's not one I agree with.

But it annoys me that Apple would probably get away with it.

Why?

Because tons of people would still buy it and hence would have to put up with this. Our lives will just go on and this might the new norm.

But yea, that's the iPhone 12 and what I think of it.

I most probably won't be getting it because, well, I have an iPhone 11 and it works fine.

Unless my temptation gets the better of me and I end up getting it. Well, we'll see what happens
